Last summer, in a small city of the southern Italy, a local plumber won the lottery, or at least he thought he did. When he arrived at the shop to collect his prize, he had a awful surprise, it was a perfect storm!
The poor man discovered that on his receipt there was a smudge that invalidated it, so he couldn't withdraw his prize. The plumber left no stone unturned, but the cashier refused to give him the prize.
The police have been called to help, but for now, we can only say that the rain failed to dampen the plumber's spirit. only time will tell if the plumber will receive his prize or not.
- a perfect storm: an especially situation caused by a combination of unfavorable circumstances.
- leave no stone unturned: try every possible course of action in order to achive something.
- rain failed to dampen the spirit: idiom used to say that even though it was raining, people were still enthusiastic and determined. It suggests that the bad weather did not discourage or negatively affect their mood or motivation.
